FEAR OF MISSING OUT

THUMBNAIL ELEMENTS OF ADHD ASD.png

What a year it has been!!! Unfortunately for Applied Techniques Training, face to face training wasn’t on the top of people’s “to do” list during the past year with Covid 19 keeping more and more people at home and having lost the ability to visit child care/OHSC/community centres to upskill staff and clients. I really missed the interaction with people outside my family, through delivering workshops or attending network meetings that allow me to share the information of others services with others.

FEAR OF MISSING OUT

Lockdown brought out FOMO (fear of missing out) for me. If you had said, “stay home for a couple of weeks”, I would have jumped at the chance, but when the option of going out was taken from me and I didn’t have the chance to visit extended family and friends, I understood what it felt like to have a fear of missing out.

GOING BACK TO BASICS

My way of filling in my time and keeping my brain active was to learn some new skills….so armed with my laptop and a platform I could work from, I have developed Learnability Online Workshops. I asked myself, what didn’t I know that I needed to know to develop informative, interactive workshops from my standard way of delivering my workshops. For me, this meant going back to the basics, starting at the beginning, work out what I did know and then make changes to the way I worked. I had to change strategies.

WHAT I DIDN’T KNOW, I DIDN’T KNOW!

I have followed this through into the micro and growth online workshops that I developed for you. Whether you or someone you know is newly diagnosed, if you suspect you have ADHD or ASD or if you were diagnosed many years ago, it is helpful to “go back to the basics” as there will be times in your life when doing what you have always been doing will no longer work.
